September 14, 2023

The European Parliament called on the International Criminal Court in The Hague (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Alexander Lukashenko for removing children from Ukraine. This is reported in the resolution REPORT on relations with Belarus.

The resolution notes that he is involved in the war against Ukraine along with Vladimir Putin and is an accomplice in the removal of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

The European Parliament condemned the involvement of the Lukashenka regime in the Russian war against Ukraine, as well as incitement to hatred, disinformation and propaganda, which echo Moscow’s bellicose rhetoric; condemned the massive supply of ammunition and military equipment to the regime of the Russian aggressors, in particular the production of spare parts for the Russian army, as well as the deployment of Russian troops in Belarus.

EU deputies also noted that a special international tribunal must have jurisdiction to investigate the crimes not only of Putin and the Russian political and military leadership, but also of the Belarusian leadership.
