August 9 – International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

August 9, 2023

Every year on August 9, International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is celebrated. It was approved by a resolution of the UN General Assembly in 1994.

There are approximately 370 million indigenous people in 90 countries across the world. They are carriers of 5000 different cultures and the vast majority of the world’s languages, the total number of which is approximately seven thousand.

There are already three indigenous peoples in Ukraine – Crimean Tatars, Karaites and Krymchaks.

Now, in such a difficult time, it is important for all of Ukraine to continue the fight together. The Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar, Karaite and Krymchak peoples have one goal – to live in a free, integral and independent Ukraine and together do everything for the victory of Ukraine!

The team of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center congratulates on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples!
