The National Commission for State Language Standards has more than halved the list of names of Crimean settlements that need to be changed. This is reported in the Appendix to the decision of the National Commission for the Standards of the State Language of June 22, 2023 No. 230 (as amended by the decision of the National Commission for State Language Standards of June 30, 2023 No. 236).
The number of names requiring changes was reduced from 225 to 92. In addition, the commission proposed 11 of its options for renaming settlements.
Recall that on January 29, the CTRC launched an information campaign Return the names – return Crimea. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center has repeatedly emphasized that the restoration of historical toponyms in Crimea is a tool for the de-occupation of the peninsula and for the victory of Ukraine over the Russian Federation.
