Eskender Bariiev, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, spoke about the Day of the Crimean Tatar Flag and its significance in an interview with the Hromadske Radio.
“Crimea is a unique region where the indigenous peoples of Ukraine live. Ukraine shows respect for those indigenous peoples. This is how Ukraine is showing its desire to develop the collective rights of indigenous peoples. When this flag is displayed in Crimea, it will demonstrate to the whole world that Ukraine is a democratic, legal, European state. We are an example for many countries where indigenous peoples live,” he explained.
Mr. Eskender noted that it is very crucial to have the Crimean Tatar flag in Kyiv, for example, next to the Ukrainian national flag.
