Russians sell their property and close businesses in Crimea – Bariiev

April 29, 2023

Eskender Bariiev, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, said the News Channel 5, that many Russians started to sell their property massively, and business is selling offices and retail outlets. All of this is happening because of stories of a major counteroffensive by the AFU and the military liberation of Crimea by the Ukrainian army.

“Wealthy collaborators living in Crimea, many of them have already bought property in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation, or have bought property in third countries, such as Turkey. This is the information we have. There are those who are starting to leave, as evidenced by some criteria. First of all, they sell household items on Avito, and they are actively selling relatively new items that were bought 2-3 years ago. The business situation is very bad now, there are many outlets and offices that are trying to rent or sell there. This means that they are going to run away,” Eskender Bariiev said.

However, according to him, there is another situation when our people are forced to leave, due to both the ongoing mobilization and the danger in Crimea.

“We really need this to prevent our men from participating in the Russian armed forces. And on the other hand, we need more of our people to stay in Crimea, because after the deoccupation, we need to restore and reintegrate Crimea,” he added.
