“If Crimea will be de-occupied politically, reintegration should take about 5 years,” Liashenko said

Volodymyr Liashenko, a lawyer at the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, said in an interview with Suspilne TV that if Crimea will be de-occupied politically, reintegration should take about 5 years. If it is done militarily, Crimea may be destroyed to the ground.

The expert noted that it is necessary to think about the reintegration of Crimea now, because de-occupation can happen very quickly. That is why the experts of the strategic forum The Future of Crimea, which was held by the CTRC with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, developed Recommendations for the reintegration of Crimea.

“More than 20 experts in various fields were involved in the forum. We believe that an important element in the successful reintegration of Crimea is the recognition of the current situation on the peninsula. Therefore, we need to take things seriously. The CTRC considered providing recommendations in 10 areas: public authorities, criminal policy, citizenship and migration, civil policy, social and humanitarian and information policy, environmental safety, financial policy, international, justice and anti-corruption policy. After the de-occupation, Crimea will not be the same as it was before 2014,” the lawyer said.

Volodymyr stressed that Ukraine will receive about 2 million people who have been living in other reality for 9 years.

“When it comes to the forced eviction of all those who have illegally entered Crimea, firstly, we need to identify them. This is the procedure described in the CTRC recommendations on migration policy. It is necessary to develop real, effective mechanisms for the eviction of illegally arrived citizens from Crimea,” Liashenko said.
