Occupiers in Crimea are preparing for forced evacuation – Bariiev

March 17, 2023

Eskender Bariiev, the Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, told the News Channel 24 that in some areas of temporarily occupied Crimea they went door-to-door and inquired about the residents, whether they had vehicles, whether there were underage children or senior citizens.

Bariiev explained that the occupiers are now collecting such information in state institutions. They are probably preparing for a possible so-called forced evacuation.

“We know that in 2020-2021, they made changes to Russian legislation and adopted a legal act under which they can conduct forced evacuations. We try to inform all international structures, in particular the UN mission, about these actions,” – the expert noted.
