Water will definitely not flow through the Crimean Canal

June 12, 2023

The water level marks in the Kakhovka Reservoir do not correspond to the necessary indicators of water supply for the Crimean Canal.

Commenting on what is currently happening with the water supply to Crimea after the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP and what the situation may be in the future, the director of Ukrhydroenerho”,- Ihor Syrota noted:

“We clearly understand, looking at the water level marks in the Kakhovka Reservoir, that there is no water intake to any city, or to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, or even less to the Crimean Canal. Therefore, until a bridge between the upper reservoir and the dam is built, until the water is raised to a certain level in the reservoir, water will not flow to Crimea. I am convinced that even when we build the bridge, the nearest prospect of water supply to the peninsula is next spring, after the flood. Water will definitely not flow through the Crimean Canal, because these are not the water level marks that are needed for the Crimean Canal”.
