At the Crimean Platform Office, UNESCO representatives in Ukraine met with the members of the Crimean Platform Expert Network.
The meeting was attended by the Head of the UNESCO Office in Ukraine, Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi, Senior Administrative Assistant of the Office Oleksandr Deyneko, Chair of the Global Citizenship and Peace Education Section Dov Lynch, Project Manager Melika Lonkarevik, Head of the UNESCO Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Artur Ohanov, members of the Crimean Platform Expert Network and, in particular, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariiev, lawyer of the CTRC Volodymyr Liashenko, expert of the CTRC Yevhen Khlobystov.
At this meeting, representatives of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center spoke about the situation with the ecosystem in the occupied Crimea. In particular, the experts drew attention to the consequences that already exist after the occupation and those to be paid attention to.
“The Crimean Tatar Resource Center has developed a legal justification/grounding for ecocide precisely in legal terms, as a crime, as a definition that is not and is not enough in international law”,- Bariiev explained.
Eskender Bariiev also noted that the CTRC has developed a catalog of the natural and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples and that the CTRC is also ready to present this catalog in order to have a clear understanding of the state of the monuments of the natural and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples in Crimea.
In addition, representatives of the CTRC spoke about the children who were taken to the territory of Crimea, their situation and whereabouts.
“We have a number of exclusive documents that we can also provide due to the fact that guardians come to children, draw up documents for financial assistance, etc., without showing the children”,- Bariiev added.
