The Crimean prosecutor’s office sent indictments against 20 Russian-controlled judges to a Ukrainian court under the article on high treason.
“The investigation established that after the occupation of Crimea by the Russian armed forces, the defendants took an oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine and began working for the enemy… The defendants contributed to the transition of the Ukrainian judicial system operating in Crimea to the administration of justice under Russian law. The so-called servants of Themis helped the Russian Federation in carrying out explosive activities against our state. Also, with their illegal decisions, they contributed to the persecution of citizens of Ukraine and the suppression of resistance to the occupation of the peninsula”,- the ARC Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Charges were brought against judges from the Russian courts of Crimea: the Arbitration Court of Crimea, the Twenty-First Arbitration Court of Appeal, the Arbitration Court of Simferopol, the Central District Court of Simferopol, the Zaliznodorizhnyy District Court of Simferopol, the Balaklava Court of Sevastopol, the Simferopol District Court, the Saky district court, Perekop district court, Dzhankoi district court, Alushta city court, Yevpatoriia city court, Kerch city court, Feodosia city court and Yalta city court.
The defendants face up to 15 years in prison.
