OMON and policemen conducted a check in the mosque in Aqmescit

On Friday, May 12, during a prayer at the Suvuk-dere mosque in the temporarily occupied Aqmescit (Simferopol), the Russian riot police and the local police arrived.

Passports were checked for all visitors to the mosque. In his absence, people were obliged to inform relatives so that they could bring documents to the mosque to check personal data. By the time of the raid, there were about 200 people near the mosque.

“Two cars arrived. The actions of the employees were accompanied by passport control. According to eyewitnesses, the passports were photographed, allegedly they were checked against some kind of base. People are being held for more than an hour”,- a public journalist from the scene noted.

We add that this mosque has been built for more than 16 years on donations to the Crimean Tatars. Previously, people came to the mosque with a police check in January 2023. Then, as a result of operational measures, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the imam under Article 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses on illegal missionary activity.

It is reported that the riot police left the mosque at 15:00.
