Tymur Yalkabov has been in the detention chamber for more than two months

For two months now, the Crimean Tatar Timur Yalkabov has been in the detention chamber of Dmitrograd, Ulyanovsk region. It is reported by the Crimean solidarity.

“Everything is still. I have been sitting in the detention chamber for two months, since February 9”,- Tymur Yalkabov wrote in a letter.

Yalkabov’s wife, Aliie Yalkabova, claims that after her arrest in a pre-trial detention center, her husband’s illness worsened and asthma attacks began. His lawyer, Zakhar Lebedev, visited him last week and noted that the political prisoner has no critical health, nutrition or detention conditions.

We remind you that on February 17, 2021, Russian security forces conducted seven searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars in Bilohirsk, Bakhchysarai, Simferopol, Sevastopol and the Sovietske district of the occupied Crimea. The detainees are charged with article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The Kyiv district court and the Lenin district court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the detained Crimean Tatars – Ernest Ibrahimov, Tymur Yalkabov, Azamat Eiupov, Oleh Fedorov, Lenur Seidametov and Yashar Shykhametov.

On March 22, 2022, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the verdict on Tymur Yalkabov. He was sentenced to 17 years in colony with the first 4 years in prison.
