The team of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center congratulates everyone on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language
Language is not just a means of communication. This is the spiritual treasure of the nation, the great value of every nation.
The language always develops together with the people, absorbs its culture, history, traditions and other features. Therefore, it is important to protect and develop it. After all, a people that has lost its language often loses its identity.
The Russian Federation has been trying to erase our identity for more than 8 years. From the beginning of the occupation of Crimea, the enemy purposefully destroyed the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages on the peninsula, and after February 24, 2022, this illegal practice spread to the new temporarily occupied territories.
But Russia did not break our people with its actions. Throughout the time, Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars confidently continue their struggle, and the Ukrainian language is becoming more and more common in everyday life.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center calls on the state to continue to provide conditions for the comprehensive development of the state Ukrainian language, as well as for the development of the language of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people of Ukraine.
In turn, the CTRC is also doing everything to preserve and develop the Crimean Tatar language. For example, in 2019, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center translated the Common Declaration of Human Rights into the Crimean Tatar language and posted it on the official UN resource. In 2021, the European Convention on Human Rights was translated.
