The Crimean Tatar Resource Center, with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine, continues the work of the Freedom Camp. The participants were told about the #LIBERATECRIMEA international movement, liberation movements, human rights protection mechanisms, and more.
Professor Borys Babin told the camp participants about the occupation of Crimea in the context of violations of international law, the mechanisms for protecting human rights in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The expert also talked to the participants about the status of prisoners of war in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Eskender Bariiev, Head of the Board of the CTRC, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, told the participants of the Freedom Camp about the international movement #LIBERATECRIMEA, about its strategies and activities. The trainer noted that this movement is aimed at strengthening the voice of civil society calling for an end to the illegal occupation of Crimea, a flagrant violation of international law and the root cause of countless human rights violations committed in Crimea since February 2014.
Oliver Loode, an expert from the Estonian Institute of Human Rights, introduced the activists online to the liberation movements in a historical context, to the lessons of the American civil rights movement.
As part of the evening programs, there were screenings and discussions of films and commercials of the CTRC Give me back my dad!, Witnesses of the 1944 genocide, Close my sky and others.
In addition, the camp participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the Crimean Tatar culture, in particular, with the history of the Crimean Tatar dance. Ulviie Seitosmanova demonstrated such dances as Tym-tym and Khaitarma. Moreover, the activists were able to get a master class from the girl.
