12 children were born after their fathers were taken by the occupants – Bariiev

November 1, 2021

Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Crimea.Realities spoke about the new documentary film “Give Me Back My Dad”. According to the expert, the authors of the picture tried to make every viewer feel the tragedy of the children from whom the Russian occupants took their fathers.

“Our goal was to make the film emotional. For several years we had a dream to shoot it, we were looking for resources for this task. But the main thing was not to make the film feigned – so that the children did not speak by memorized texts, but expressed, what was in their souls. Therefore, we thought out the script very clearly. In the film, five characters are children of political prisoners and missing persons. Psychologists worked with them, who asked them questions, and then we tried to present these stories with the help of animation. In general, during the preparation of the film, the shooting was carried out with dozens of children, but only five stories were selected. The footage will not go anywhere, we will pass it on as historical evidence to the families themselves”,-he said.

Barıiev noted that 12 children have already been born after their fathers were taken away, and they live with their fathers’ photographs. Someone remembers them, someone does not – all this pain is reflected in the film of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

“We want to show it at various international venues, side events of various organizations. The timing is dictated precisely by their requirements. The premiere will be held for the ambassadors of different countries in Ukraine. In addition, our film will participate in festivals, so we will only be able to show it on TV channels next year. There will be only separate demonstrations in different cities of Ukraine, followed by discussion”,- said the Head of the Board of the CTRC.
