Bariieva invited Italian deputies to take patronage over Crimean political prisoners

On Wednesday, September 29, the manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Zarema Bariieva made a speech in the Italian Senate on the topic: The ban on freedom of speech and the situation with violation of human rights in the occupied Crimea. During her speech, the expert called on Italian deputies to join the Atalık (Godfather) campaign and take patronage over the political prisoners of Crimea.

Bariieva spoke about the methods and tools available in the arsenal of the Russian repressive machine that are used in the 21st century to combat dissent on the territory of the peninsula.

The representative of the CTRC informed the international community about systemic detentions, arrests, fines against Crimean activists. She stressed that a number of civic journalists have already paid for their activities and are currently in jails or colonies.

Zarema Bariieva spoke about the Atalık (Godfather) campaign launched by the International Movement for the de-occupation of Crimea and solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people #LIBERATECRIMEA and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center. She explained that within the framework of this initiative, Ukrainian parliamentarians, as well as members of the European Parliament and national parliaments of European countries, can take patronage over Crimeans who have been arrested or persecuted by the Russian occupants.
