Bariiev on the double standards of the occupants in Crimea

September 13, 2021

Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Eskender Bariiev in an interview with the Crimea.Realities media agency said that the invaders in Crimea use double standards: on the one hand, they do not allow public actions due to coronavirus, but on the other hand, they are freely and without problems going to hold an event with the participation of up to six thousand people.

We remind that earlier, the so-called head of the occupied Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, made changes to the current decree of March 17, 2020, extending the coronavirus restrictions on the peninsula until October. However, according to the changes made, the restrictions will not apply to the Tavryda.ART festival, as well as a number of other mass events.

“On the one hand, the high alert mode is used in order not to carry out any public actions in Crimea, especially considering  recent searches and arrests. On the other hand, the art cluster is going to hold events with the participation of up to six thousand people freely and without problems. The locals are really worried because guests from different parts of Russia and even other countries will come there. It is clear that Putin needs to demonstrate that various international forums are held on the territory of Crimea”,- Bariiev said.

The Head of the Board of the CTRC stressed that the Russian authorities also set themselves the goal of drowning out the news stories that Ukraine is trying to shake up – this is the arrest of Nariman Dzhelyal, and the Akhtemov brothers, and others. As a result, there are two worlds: in one they destroy, search, and pursue, and in the other there is a feast during the plague for the sake of a beautiful picture.
