Occupants upheld the verdict to Refat Chubarov

September 10, 2021

The Third Court of Appeal in Sochi upheld the sentence to the Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, who had previously been sentenced to 6 years in prison. This was reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.

The defense plans to file a cassation appeal.

Chubarov's interests are represented by a lawyer by appointment Oleksandr Osokin. Lawyer Nikolai Polozov was admitted to the meeting as a listener, without the opportunity to defend Chubarov.

We remind you that on June 1, a so-called Russian court in the occupied Crimea passed a sentence in absentia to Refat Chubarov in the form of 6 years in prison, a fine of 200 thousand rubles and correctional labor on charges of organizing mass riots on February 26, 2014 under the walls of the Crimean parliament.
