On Sunday, September 5, activists near the Russian Embassy in Kyiv held a rally in support of five Crimean Tatars who were detained in the occupied Crimea on September 3-4. Participants unfurled posters with the inscriptions: No to repression in Crimea, Hands off Qirimli, Putin is a murderer, Qirim bu Ukraina and others.

“If in all civilized countries, law enforcement agencies protect people from arbitrariness, banditry and theft, but in the occupied Crimea everything is exactly the opposite. The servicemen break into the houses of decent people in the middle of the night, break down doors, frighten little underage children and deprive them of their paternal care, rob people by imposing fines on them”,- said Eskender Bariiev, Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

We remind you that on September 3-4 in the occupied Crimea, the houses of the Crimean Tatars Eldar Odamanov, Aziz Akhtemov, Shevket Useinov, Asan Akhtemov and Nariman Dzhelyal were searched. The security forces confiscated the equipment and took the men with them.

On September 4, Russian security officials in the occupied Crimea detained 40 people who wanted to know about the fate of five Crimean Tatars. They were fined 30,000 rubles.

Later it became known that Nariman Dzhelyal and cousins Aziz and Asan Akhtemov were suspected of complicity in the sabotage. The occupants claim that they are involved in the damage to the gas pipeline in the village of Perevalne, Simferopol district of Crimea.

Eldar Odamanov was released after the search, but later he was detained again and an administrative report was drawn up against him for disobeying the police. The fate of Shevket Useinov remains unknown.
