On Thursday, June 10, experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center held a number of meetings with representatives of specialized organizations, during which they discussed the problems of the occupied Crimea in the environmental sphere, caused by the illegal actions of the occupation authorities on the territory of the peninsula.
Head of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of Legal and Foreign Affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev, expert of the CTRC, Yevhen Khlobystov, NaUKMA, doctor of economic sciences, professor and Svitlana Boichenko, expert of the CRC, doctor of geographical sciences, associate professor Svitlana Boichenko met with the deputy head of the Main department of the SESU in the Kherson region Kateryna Havrylova.
The interlocutors paid attention to the issue of how technogenic objects can pose a threat to the environmental situation in Crimea and the Kherson region. In particular, they discussed the accident in the city of Armiansk, which affected the territory of the Kherson region, where the DSNS carried out appropriate measures.
“Information is also important for us, for example, what area of the territory of the Kherson region suffered from the situation in Armiansk, since this is an important material for reports to international organizations”,- Bariiev emphasized.
Also, the experts of the CTRC held a meeting with the deputy head of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southern District, Mykola Vlasenko. During the meeting, the experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center informed the deputy head about monitoring the state of the environment in Crimea, preparing thematic reports, and submitting them to the relevant international organizations and special rapporteurs.
“Since this system has been reformed, and the Southern District now includes the territory of the occupied Crimea, we agreed on cooperation. The CTRC will officially send letters to the environmental inspectorate, on the basis of which the department will carry out activities in its sphere of competence”,- Khlobystov explained.
Experts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center also met with the director of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve Anatolii Yurchenko and agreed to conclude a cooperation agreement.
“As part of our cooperation, we are talking about a possible visit by our experts to this reserve and collecting the necessary information, including the information for research. We will also exchange information to prepare reports and research changes in the protected area in connection with the consequences of the activities of the occupation authorities in Crimea”,- Svitlana Boichenko noted.
