June 10, 2021

Five years ago, on June 10, 2016, Ukrainian activist Andrey Kolomiets was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a strict regime colony. The court sentenced him to 6 years for allegedly attacking Berkut servicemen in Kyiv during the events of the Euromaidan, and another 4 years for drugs allegedly found in his possession. He has been illegally detained for five years now. During this period, in relation to him, the right to a fair trial and the healthcare access were repeatedly violated.

We remind that a resident of the Kyiv region  Andrey Kolomiets  was detained in Kabardino-Balkaria in May 2015 on suspicion of possession of drugs. After the arrest, the Ukrainian was brought to Crimea and charged with attempted murder of two Crimean Berkut servicemen. From the evidence of the prosecution, according to the lawyer, only two black and white photographs of the allegedly charred uniform of these Berkut soldiers were presented.
