On Tuesday, May 18, the day of commemoration of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, the Crimean Tatar flag was raised in Canada. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Embassy in Canada.
“Fredericton continues the tradition started by the Embassy of Ukraine: annually, on May 18, one of the Canadian cities raises a blue flag with a tamga in memory of the deportation and in support of the Crimean Tatars today. In previous years, such ceremonies were held in Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton and Winnipeg”,- said the message.
It is noted that Canada consistently adheres to the policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and demands from Moscow to end the oppression of the Crimean Tatar people.
