NATO in the media of the occupied Crimea: Recognition of Crimea as Ukrainian is a military threat to the Russian Federation

July 19, 2022

“If any other state, be it Ukraine or NATO countries, believes that Crimea is not Russian, for us it is a systemic threat. Each state has the right to take preventive actions to eliminate the military threat”,- Dmitry Medvedev, ex-prime minister of the Russian Federation said. This quote was distributed by the federal media and the media of the occupied Crimea.

In fact, according to the norms of international law, Crimea was not and is not Russian. NATO countries recognize the Russian Federation within the borders recognized by international law, and the statement that Crimea is part of Ukraine does not pose a threat to the borders of the Russian Federation, recognized by the international community.

We remind you that the Crimean Tatar Resource Center has launched a new column NATO in the media of the occupied Crimea, aimed at tracking fake information in the temporarily occupied Crimea about the values, goals and current activities of NATO and debunking this information.
