"After the end of the pre-trial investigation on the fabricated case on the contrived accusation of Ivan Yatskin of high treason to the occupying country of Russia, he was transported to the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and placed in a detention center in Simferopol in a cell with inhuman conditions. The conditions in the cell of basement are unsanitary as the walls are covered with fungus and mold and there are also rodents and bedbugs" – the message says.
In addition, the leadership of the Simferopol detention facility seized some of Yatskin's clothes and food and all medicines, including painkillers, thereby depriving him of the opportunity to treat diseases of the cardiovascular system and the consequences of frostbite of the lower extremities. Also, the political prisoner is denied a meeting with his family.
"I appeal to the Ombudswoman for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova with a demand to urgently take measures to restore the rights of a citizen of Ukraine Ivan Yatskin, in particular to provide him with adequate conditions of detention, return personal belongings and medicines, provide a meeting with his family and immediately conduct a full medical examination followed by prescribing appropriate treatment" – added Denisova.
We remind that in early December 2019, Russian security forces in the occupied Crimea detained Ivan Yatskin, a resident of Simferopol, on charges of alleged high treason. Subsequently, the man was convoyed to Moscow. He was arrested until March 16, 2020. Ivan Yatskin's lawyer, Nikolai Polozov, signed a non-disclosure agreement in the "case".
