UN expert was provided with examples of violations of the rights of elder women in the occupied Crimea

The UN independent expert on the realization of all human rights by elderly people, Ms. Claudia Mahler, was provided with information from the Ombudsman for the Protection of the State Language and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, which contains examples of violations of the rights of elder women in Crimea.

Specifically, this information contains the following examples:

– Death of 73-year-old Crimean Tatar activist Vedzhie Kashka due to her so-called arrest;

– Death of an 82-year-old Ukrainian language teacher from Yalta.

In addition, the experts noted the complete elimination of elderly women in Crimea from making any decisions regarding their rights and status.

In informing the UN Independent Expert of the ARC, information was used by the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language and the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
