The so-called Court of the occupied Crimea issued a warning to the wife of political prisoner Omerov

March 22, 2021

On Monday, March 22, the so-called Dzhankoy District Court issued a warning to the wife of the political prisoner Riza Omerov – Sevilia Omerova, who had previously gone to a solitary picket in support of her husband and father. The woman intends to appeal. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center was informed about this by Sevilia herself.

During the so-called court session a police major was interrogated, who drew up a protocol on the wife of the political prisoner. The so-called judge warned him at the beginning of the so-called trial to give truthful testimony, as he could also be brought to justice. But in reality, the major lied anyway. The man said that he gave a copy of the protocol of Sevilia Omerova, but in fact this did not happen.

“In the case, they also added a fine – 500 rubles for speeding. I asked the major, what does this have to do with today's meeting? He did not answer”,- said the wife.

The so-called trial was held openly, but only Sevilia Omerova herself and the public defender were allowed into the courthouse, citing restrictions due to coronavirus infection.

We remind that earlier Sevilia Omerova was charged with an administrative offense for going to a solitary picket, according to which a fine from 1 to 30 thousand rubles was imposed. The court did not find corpus delicti in the case and closed it. Later, the so-called Supreme Court of the occupied Crimea decided to consider again the so-called administrative case of the wife of political prisoner Omerov.
