A court in Germany sentenced a 41-year-old businessman to three years and nine months in prison, as well as another person involved in the case – to two years probation for violating the sanctions that were imposed due to the annexation of Crimea. It is reported by the DW media agency.
Another conviction has been passed in Germany for violating the EU arms embargo on Russia imposed by the annexation of Crimea and Russian intervention in eastern Ukraine. On Thursday, March 4, the Hamburg Regional Court sentenced to three years and nine months in prison a 41-year old businessman whose firm illegally exported equipment suitable for the production of missiles. Another person involved in the case was sentenced to two years probation on charges of complicity in illegal sales”,- the statement said.
In addition, the firm must pay the government all the gross profits of 7.9 million euros from illegal transactions. A person convicted of aiding must transfer to the state all remuneration in the amount of 184 thousand euros, and pay an additional fine in the amount of 150 thousand euros.
