On Tuesday, February 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new resolution calling for an extension of the policy of non-recognition of the attempted annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as for increasing sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
The document notes that the resolution includes an Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the governments and parliaments of foreign states, international organizations, members of the international community.
The main provisions of the Appeal are:
• on the extension of the policy of non-recognition of the attempted annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol,
• further consolidation of international cooperation in order to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including within the framework of the Ukrainian political and diplomatic initiative Crimean Platform,
• the use of all possible international political, diplomatic and sanctions mechanisms in relation to the Russian Federation with the aim of immediately releasing by it all persons whose capture is caused by the continuing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as all citizens of Ukraine who are illegally detained by the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous The Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and on the territory of the Russian Federation,
• countering the militarization of the Crimean peninsula,
• condemnation of violations by the Russian occupation authorities of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the temporarily occupied territories,
• demand from the Russian Federation to stop the forced transfer of illegally convicted citizens of Ukraine residing in the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to penitentiary institutions located on the territory of the aggressor country.
