Head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, head of the department fof legal and foreign affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev said on the air of the Dom TV channel that a serious ecocide is brewing in the occupied Crimea due to the irrational policy of the invaders on the use of water resources.
Bariiev emphasized that as a result of the irrational policy of the occupants on the use of water resources, the loss of water in the water supply systems of the Crimea today is about 60%.
The Head of the CTRC added that a colossal amount of fresh water went to continuous military exercises, as well as construction work.
“During the construction of the Tavryda highway, a large amount of Crimean flora was destroyed – about 250 thousand bushes and trees, which naturally retained water in the soil”,- he explained.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center, from their side, sent a report to the Special Rapporteur on Environment and Human Rights, who will prepare a report in March.
