In 2020, 138 cases of violation of the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health were recorded, 111 of which were in relation to the Crimean Tatars. This indicator exceeds last year’s for the same period: in 2019, 134 cases of violations were recorded, in 2018 – 57. This is stated in the analysis of human rights violations in Crimea for 2020 by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

During the reporting period, cases of non-provision of adequate medical care in places of detention were recorded on an ongoing basis, especially in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. It is known that not all political prisoners were provided with personal protective equipment. Such actions, in turn, led to a deterioration in health. At the same time, the petitions of lawyers were often ignored.
In addition, there have been cases of forced placement of detained Crimeans in a psychiatric hospital, which is also a violation of the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
Failure to provide timely and appropriate medical assistance amounts to inhuman and degrading treatment and is a violation of article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
We remind that according to the monitoring data, during the reporting period, 52 searches were recorded on the peninsula, 280 cases of arrests, 92 cases of interrogations, interviews and conversations", 252 – arrests: 47 – new arrests, 16 – sentences, 189 – extensions of detention to political prisoners of Crimea.
