US fined BitGo over Crimea sanctions violations

The United States fined BitGo more than $ 98,000, which carried out 183 financial transactions in defiance of US sanctions, including in the occupied Crimea. This was reported by the press service of the US Treasury Department.

“Violations were recorded in the period from March 10, 2015. Persons from the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria had the opportunity to create and use electronic wallets with digital currency on the BitGo platform, as well as carry out transactions with digital currency”,- the message said.

It is noted that the company will pay a fine of $ 93,830 at the base level of the calculation of $ 183,000.
