There are enough reserves of good fresh water in Crimea – Putin

December 17, 2020

On Thursday, December 17, during a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that there are enough supplies of good fresh water in the occupied Crimea, “nobody just took care of it before.”

“Geological studies are now being carried out. Part of the water from the water intake is being redirected and Sevastopol, I hope, will not feel a shortage in the near future. There are enough reserves of good fresh water in Crimea, nobody just took care of it before (they have not explored underground sources)”,- he said.

Speaking about desalination, Putin said that this can only be done “pointwise”, as it is not effective.

“There is also an innovation for Crimea, experts say that the water areas adjacent to the Crimea, under the Sea of Azov, have good water reserves, we will solve the problem, funds are allocated”,- the Russian president added.
