Activist Konstantin Kotov was released

December 16, 2020

On Wednesday, December 16, activist Konstantin Kotov, previously sentenced to 1.5 years of imprisonment in a colony for “repeated violation of the rules for holding rallies|, was released. The Interfax media agency reported about this.

We remind that civil activist Konstantin Kotov was detained after the rally on August 10 and charged under the article, which has already been called “Dadins article” by the name of the only convict, but Kotov himself does not plead guilty. On August 14, the Presnensky District Court of Moscow arrested Kotov until October 15 in a criminal case on repeated violations of the procedure for organizing or holding a rally. On September 5, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow sentenced activist Konstantin Kotov to 4 years in a general regime colony for “repeated violation of the rules for holding rallies”, although the State Prosecution requested 4.5 years in prison for him. Later, a Russian court commuted the activist's sentence. He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of one year and six months.
