Lenur Islyamov sentenced in absentia to 19 years in prison

On Thursday, December 10, the so-called Supreme Court of the occupied Crimea sentenced in absentia the owner of the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR Lenur Islyamov to 19 years in a strict regime colony with a ban on information activities for 2 years. The Interfax media agency reported about this.

“To finally appoint Islyamov a sentence of 19 years in prison with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to appearing in the media for a period of 2 years, and restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year”,- the judge's decision said.

We remind that Lenur Islyamov was accused under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: clauses A, B, Part 2 of Article 281 (sabotage committed by an organized group and entailing grave consequences), Part 1 of Article 208 (organization of an illegal armed group) and Part 2 of Article 280.1 (public calls for extremist activities using the media or information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet).
