Mufti of Poland Tomasz Miśkiewicz apologized for depicting Crimea as a part of Russia on the calendar, stating that it was a serious mistake that should not have happened. He confirmed that the Polish Muslim Association continues to support a free Crimea. This was reported via the organization’s website.
“I express deep regret and apologize to everyone who felt offended by this. Obviously, there was a mistake. I do not want to blame myself or anyone here: this is a serious mistake that should not have happened, but it did. An error at the writing stage, the fatal automatism of the writer and the transfer of the name “(Russian Federation)” that appeared on other pages of the calendar, for which I apologize once again”,- the message said.
He stressed that the error in the calendar has already been corrected and that the Polish Muslim Association supports a free Crimea.
“I am very sorry that such an unpleasant incident happened, especially since the Religious Association of Muslims in the Republic of Poland has been and remains apolitical. One of our main goals is to defend the right of the Muslim community to religious practice, the inviolability of religious sites and cemeteries”,- he added.
We remind that earlier the Religious Union of Muslims of Poland published on its website a calendar, on the pages of which the mosques of Feodosia, Bakhchisaray, Old Crimea and Simferopol are depicted with the signature “Russian Federation.”
