This is a historical minimum – Pavlenko on water reserves in Yalta

November 25, 2020

Yanina Pavlenko, acting Head of the so-called administration of Yalta of the occupied Crimea, said that the water reserves in the reservoirs that provide the city with water are 17 percent of the total, and this is a historical minimum. She reported this via her Facebook page.

“To put it mildly, I am at a loss, because I did not hear from anyone an intelligible answer to the question – if there is a problem, why did they start looking for a way out of this situation not six months ago, but only three weeks? Having at the same time before my eyes an example of other cities that faced with it a little earlier. But we have what we have – water reserves in reservoirs that provide the city with water – 17 percent of the total. This is a historical minimum”,- she said in the message.

Pavlenko noted that it is necessary to prepare for the most pessimistic forecasts. The primary task is to develop measures that will reduce water consumption, to work out the possibility of using reserve sources of water supply.

“The global task is to repair the networks. Their deterioration leads to the loss of more than 50 percent of water! Today we have to agree with the arguments of the company representatives and make an obvious decision – the city imposes a restriction on water supply at night (the restriction will not affect social facilities). Thus, we will save water, which at night goes into the ground through worn out networks”,- she added.
