The head of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ihor Ponochovny, said that the environmental situation in the occupied Crimea is deteriorating every year, so it is necessary to develop a mechanism for monitoring offenses in this area. The press service of the department reported about this.
Ihor Ponochovny held a working meeting with Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Shakhmatenko and Deputy Chairman of the State Ecological Inspectorate of Ukraine Viktor Kantsurak.
It is noted that the participants in the meeting discussed issues of interaction and activation of joint work of law enforcement agencies of the autonomy and state regulatory bodies in the field of environmental protection.
“Ihor Ponochovny focused on the need to develop a mechanism for monitoring offenses in this area, since the environmental situation in Crimea is deteriorating every year, and the use of the results of such monitoring will allow us to quickly respond to offenses committed in Crimea and ensure their effective investigation”,- the message said.
A decision was made to create an interdepartmental working group, which will include representatives of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, preliminary investigation bodies of the autonomy and representatives of state authorities operating in the field of environmental protection.
