These are lies: Russia reacted to the resolution on the occupied Crimea

November 19, 2020

On Wednesday, November 18, Gennady Kuzmin, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, reacted to the draft resolution on Crimea. He denied all the massive violations of human rights on the peninsula and said that these are all lies.

“We have repeatedly stated that the elements of the draft resolution on massive violations of human rights in Crimea are fantasy insinuations of the Ukrainian delegation. I can even repeat this in pure and simple Ukrainian: “These are lies”,- he said.

According to the invaders, the co-authors of the resolution have been trying for several years to punish the population of Crimea for their free choice in favor of Russia. Kuzmin said that the United States and European countries have been carrying out illegal unilateral sanctions since 2014, aimed specifically at infringing the interests of the Crimeans.

“I don’t even want to talk about Ukraine. How did Kyiv show concern for the Crimeans? Let me remind you. In the winter of 2015, Kyiv stopped supplying electricity to 575 settlements in which almost half of the population of the peninsula lived. From April 2014 to the present day the water supply through the North Crimean canal, which provided 85% of the water supply to the Republic of Crimea, was cut off”,- he said.

We remind that on November 18, the Third Committee of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly approved the fifth draft resolution “The situation with human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine.” 63 countries voted for the corresponding decision, 22 voted against.
