November 13, 2020

On Friday, November 13, at the Council of Europe, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine Borys Tarasiuk said that Russia continues to violate the rights of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea and called on the international community to resolve such illegal actions of the aggressor country. The press service of the department reported.

Tarasiuk recalled that a week ago a so-called Russian court illegally sentenced Rustem Emiruseinov, Arsen Abkhairov and Eskender Abdulhaniev on falsified charges to 17, 13 and 12 years in prison on charges of so-called terrorism.

“The Permanent Representative of Ukraine also drew attention to the violations by the occupation authorities of the religious freedoms of Ukrainian citizens in Crimea. In particular, the communities of believers of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Crimea are being persecuted. Such actions are flagrant violations by the Russian Federation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination”,- the statement said.

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe called on the international community to give a proper assessment of the actions of the Russian Federation in the occupied Crimea.
