Activist Ridvan Umerov presented with indictment

November 13, 2020

The so-called Prosecutor’s Office of the occupied Crimea presented an indictment under Article 205.6 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (failure to report a crime) to an activist Ridvan Umerov. This was reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.

“Yesterday my client Ridvan Umerov was summoned to the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Crimea, where he was handed an indictment in a criminal case. In the near future, the case materials will be sent to the court for consideration on the merits. The evidence on which the prosecution's position is based are unknown witnesses in cases under Article 205.5 in Crimea, it is completely absurd”,- said lawyer Marlen Khalikov.

We remind you that on August 31, Russian security forces conducted mass searches in the houses of the Crimean Tatars in the Nyzhniohirsk, Sovietsk regions and Sudak of the occupied Crimea. Four people were detained. All were taken to the FSB headquarters in Simferopol. Later they were released from the FSB building on recognizance not to leave. They are all charged with Article 205.6 of the Criminal Code of Russia (failure to report a crime).
