On Wednesday, November 11, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, Iurii Vitrenko, Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, spoke about the possibility of deploying a nuclear potential in the occupied peninsula due to the ongoing transformation of Crimea into a huge military base. The press service of the department reported about this.

“The ongoing transformation of Crimea into a huge military base may indicate the possibility of deploying a nuclear potential in the occupied peninsula, thereby undermining Ukraine's non-nuclear status. This should change immediately”,- the statement said.

Vitrenko also stressed that the occupying state prevents IAEA inspectors from getting to the storage sites for nuclear and radioactive materials – both in Crimea and in eastern Ukraine.
