Kliment, the Archbishop of the Crimean Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, said that six religious communities remained on the territory of Crimea, three of which under threat of extinction. He called on representatives of the UN countries to protect the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) on the peninsula. Krym.Realii reports:
"I request the protection of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Crimea. Until 2014, 49 religious communities operated on the territory of Crimea. They belonged to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and, starting from December 15, 2018, to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Today, only six religious communities remain in Crimea, and three of them are under threat of extinction. Our right to pray in the Ukrainian church has been fought for in the Russian courts and the European Court of Human Rights for six years," Kliment said in his appeal.
Clement called on representatives of UN countries to immediately begin negotiations with Russia to address the issue.
Let us recall that on November 3, Clement, the Metropolitan of Crimea and Sevastopol, received a package of documents from the occupiers demanding to dismantle the wooden church of the OCU in Yevpatoria by November 3, 2020, and pay a fine of 50,000 rubles.
