Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Takashi Kura said in an interview with the Ukrinform media agency that the position of the Japanese government on the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia is clear and unchanging. Japan continues to unswervingly support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“The position of the Japanese government is that the annexation of Crimea by Russia is illegal and hat we absolutely cannot recognize it. This is our principled position on this issue, and it will not change. Accordingly, based on this position, we will never we recognize any actions, including the so-called local elections, which Russia carries out in Crimea on the basis that the alleged jurisdiction of the Russian authorities that extends to this territory”,- the ambassador said.
It is noted that Japan steadfastly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia – which, in fact, is an occupation.
