The Republic of Turkey reaffirmed its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders, and also assured of active cooperation within the framework of the Crimean platform. This is stated in a joint statement by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“Emphasizing its dedication to the principles and norms of international law, the Republic of Turkey reaffirms its unconditional support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders and welcomes cooperation within the framework of the Crimean Platform initiated by Ukraine”,- the message said.
Turkey agrees to continue to make efforts aimed at de-occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as restoration of Ukrainian control over certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
“We will continue to coordinate joint efforts to ensure the protection of human rights in the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as to release all illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine”,- the statement added.
The presidents stressed that they will work together to improve living conditions for Ukrainian citizens, including Crimean Tatars, who were forced to leave the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and move to mainland Ukraine.
