Ombudsman for human rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova, commenting on the speech of her Ukrainian colleague Denisova during an online meeting of the PACE Committee, said that in the occupied Crimea, no one oppresses the Crimean Tatar people. She wrote about this via her Facebook page.
“In our country, much is being done to maintain interfaith and interethnic harmony, to help the Crimean Tatars and ensure the equality of the peoples of Crimea”,- the message says.
Moskalkova claims that the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian languages are recognized on the peninsula as official. Moreover, according to her, more than 31 thousand schoolchildren study in the Crimean Tatar language.
“107 Crimean Tatars are actively working in local authorities. Since 2014, 4-5 mosques have been opened on the peninsula annually, during the period 2014-2019, 3,000 pilgrims were sent to the hajj”,- she added.
