In Russian-occupied Crimea, the FSB detained two people on suspicion of extremism. According to the FSB, citizens of the Russian Federation and Ukraine were detained. Both were arrested. This was reported via the website of the Russian department.
“In September 2020, a Ukrainian distributed leaflets on the territory of the cities of Crimea, containing calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation”,- the statement said.
It is noted that after these actions, the Ukrainian born in 1988 was detained, and at his place of residence they found printed materials and communications. A criminal case was opened against him under the article “Public calls to carry out extremist activities.”
On September 21, a Russian citizen born in 1992 was detained in Yevpatoria. The FSB claims that the man via social media expressed support for Ukrainian nationalist groups and threatened to blow up administrative buildings on the peninsula. He also distributed leaflets with extremist materials. Criminal proceedings were instituted against him under three articles at once.
“Components of explosives, items that look like firearms and ammunition, leaflets of extremist content, as well as other items testifying to the unlawful activities of the detainee, were found and seized from the detainee”,- the department added.
