Lithuania invariably supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and therefore does not recognize the holding of illegal elections in the occupied Crimea. This was reported by the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Linas Linkevičius via his Twitter page.
“Yesterday Russia held the so-called regional and local elections in the illegally annexed Ukrainian Crimea and Sevastopol. The EU's policy of non-recognition of the annexation is consistent. We do not recognize these so-called elections and invariably support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine”,- the statement said.
We will remind that earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the EU also condemned the holding of the so-called voting for the election of the governor in the occupied Crimea, since such actions contradict fundamental norms and principles of international law, as well as Ukrainian legislation.
