Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on the international community to pay attention to the disappearance of people in the occupied Crimea

On Sunday, August 30, the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the international community to pay attention to the fate of the abducted or missing people in the occupied Crimea. The press service of the department reported about this.

“The world community should keep such violations by Russia as an occupying state in the focus of its constant attention and increase pressure on the Russian Federation in all cases of enforced disappearances”,- the message said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for increased international pressure on the Russian Federation in order to fulfill its obligations as an occupying state in accordance with international humanitarian law and international human rights law, primarily with regard to ensuring the right to life, liberty and security of person.

According to the CTRC, 18 people disappeared during the occupation, 13 of them are representatives of the Crimean Tatar people. This category is divided into those who are wanted (9 people, all are the Crimean Tatars) and those who are not wanted (9 people, 4 are the Crimean Tatars).
