On Friday, August 28, during a briefing, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that if the Nicaraguan consulate is not closed in the occupied Crimea, Kyiv will impose sanctions.
“A particularly outrageous fact is that Oleh Belaventsev was appointed to the post of consul, he was sentenced in 2019 by the Sviatoshyne District Court of Kyiv to 13 years for undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine. We regard this as a direct violation of Ukrainian legislation and an unfriendly step of Nicaragua”,- he said.
Kuleba stressed that Kyiv will impose sanctions if the consulate in Crimea is not closed. In addition, Ukraine is ready to resort to tougher action.
