On Wednesday, August 26, the Bureau of Industry and Security at the US Department of Commerce decided to include 3 Russian research institutes on the sanctions list, as their activities are contrary to the interests of US national security and foreign policy.
The list includes the 33rd Central Research and Testing Institute of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Shikhany in the Saratov Region, the 48th Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense in Kirov, including its two branches in Yekaterinburg and Sergiev Posad and the State Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology.
It is noted that the activities of these institutions are contrary to the interests of national security and US foreign policy. They are suspected of working on chemical and biological weapons programs.
